On July 10 IL Kino Berlin will be screening "The Ghosts of San Berillo" by Edoardo Morabito, a documentary that focus on neighborhood ruins of San Berillo, in the historic center of Catania. Will follow the meeting with M.Arch. Barbara Di Gregorio of RARE Office Architekturbüro Berlin, member of the multidisciplinary group, that sees the synergistic collaboration among Italian Architect Chamber in Catania, its Fondation, Laposs (Laboratory of design, testing and analysis of public policies and services to people) of the University of Catania e il Committee of Active Citizens of San Berillo. The project, on display in the foyer of IL Kino, was presented last May at the Biennale Public Space Rome as winning proposal of urban regenaration that led to the opening of a technical committee shared by the public administrations in Catania. Moreover the project got the Jury Prize at the XXV. International Seminar of Architecture and Urban Culture in Camerino in August 2015 and was presented at the European Commission’s Joint Research Center during the Workshop SAFESUST in Ispra (I) in Nov. 2015. The event will end with the music selection of Sonia Brex.

The idea of bringing the case to San Berillo was born in Berlin when Carla Molino, owner of IL Kino Berlin and Barbara Di Gregorio, co-founder of RARE Office, both originally from Catania, meet and decide to organize an event that would express the versatility of San Berillo through various forms of cultural diffusion, as the documentary, the experience participatory and music. They decide to involve the musician / DJ Sonia Brex, also originally from Catania, and they invited her to conclude the event.
